Hey, Daily Friends! I hope you had a great Monday today, I know for me it was an incredibly long day. In fact, I am typing this up at 8:15 pm my time after a full day of work, cooking dinner, and walking my sweet Evee pup. To be honest, I had a different post planned for today but sometimes life happens and you have to just go with the flow!

So today I just wanted to check in with yall to update you on my Whole 30 journey that I started fourteen days ago. Tomorrow will be the 15th day which means I am halfway through the challenge! Honestly, I am so proud of myself and how committed I have been up to this point. I have only had two tiny slip-ups but that’s okay because I am human and once again life just happens. Overall, I just wanted to share my experience with you, my friend, thus far.

First off, I am surprised at how easy it has been to give up dairy and grains for me. The first couple of days I was having some serious cravings for toast with butter, but after that initial period, I didn’t miss it. Sugar, on the other hand, has been a nightmare to give up. It has been two weeks and I am still craving Oreos, sweet tea, and chocolate chip cookies. I literally dream about Oreos. Knowing that sugar is literally as addictive as a drug I know it’s going to take some time to stop feeling these intense cravings.

Secondly, I cannot tell enough people about how much better I feel. I have more energy, I sleep better, and I feel more focused throughout the day. I don’t know if I can solely blame grains, dairy, and sugar for this feeling since my overall diet has drastically changed. It may just be from eating a lot more veggies and fruits while eating homecooked meals instead of the fast food I was eating way too frequently.

Finally, I went to the doctor on Friday of last week to get some prescriptions refilled and I was just shocked that I have lost 10 pounds in the last 2 weeks! My doctor was just as shocked as I was and encouraged me to keep on doing what I was doing. I have lost 10 pounds and haven’t worked out once in two weeks. Now, of course, I did not start the Whole30 with the intent to lose weight and I really didn’t think I would with my very stubborn thyroid controlling my metabolism. So it is a nice added bonus.

Really I am so excited to give yall the final update at 30 days. After this challenge is up, I am interested in trying to eat vegan for thirty days to see if it makes a difference as well, while slowly reintroducing grains back into my diet. I was inspired to try this lifestyle after watching the documentary, What the Health, on Netflix. It was such an eye-opening documentary and even my carnivorous boyfriend Ben had a vegan salad today for lunch after watching it last night with me and that is when you know its impactful!

Lastly, I wanted to give a shout out to the blog PaleoRunningMomma.com because I have been living off her recipes for the past two weeks and they are quickly becoming some of my favorites.

Anyways, if you read this wall of text then you are truly amazing! I know this isn’t like what we usually post but I wanted my Daily family to be kept up to date on my life right now. Leave a comment down below of any good vegan recipes you know, or if you watch What The Health on Netflix, I would love to discuss it with someone!
